Viruses are best eliminated by anti virus scanners. Amongst the most popular for home users is Norton's Antivirus and McCafee's antivirus. However, both of do cost a bit of money but for that little money, it brings you a tremendous of safety and anxiety soothing effects. For those who do not have these tools available, online virus scanning is provided although their speed is greatly slower than a program that just resides on your computer. Additionally, the virus scanners that are installed in your system protects you most of the time when it encounters a virus during browsing.

Making a purchase online is generally save nowadays. Encryption, SSL and all that technical mumbo jumbo actually exists for a reason. It prevents hackers from accessing your information when it travels through the Internet. Without going into much detail, the general idea of encryption is that it takes a tremendous amount of time and computational power to decode the encryption. Just as it would take you a long time to guess the correct number in 1000000 numbers, imagine doing that for 2 to the power of 128. That's a lot more zeros that above.

However, as perfect as this encryption technology sounds, it doesn't always guarantee that your credit is safe. Why? Keylogging program are the cause. These programs work outside the boundaries of encryption. Encryption is the process of reprocessing the information that you send information out but happens at the instant when you hit the send button. What a keylogging program does is that whatever you type, it gets recorded in say a text file and sends it separately to the hacker which doesn't come with encryption unfortunately. Personally, this kind of spyware is the most dangerous because your credit card limit is often much more than the cost of your computer. A computer can be fixed. A bad credit is doubtful.

Internet Dialers are small spyware programs that get downloaded to your computer and then installed.
